June 12 Monday

It seems that today was a day of moderate improvements, especially when compared to yesterday’s nausea and food intake.  Things are certainly not peachy-keen but Danielle had a pretty good morning; she took a long walk with Helen and she had some appetite for breakfast.  She had a few visitors today, which is always an encouragement.  She was not quite so hungry by the time lunch rolled around, and when she woke up from a nap after lunch she was in quite a bit of pain again.  On the whole, though, it seems that the pain management plan put in place yesterday is helping to stay ahead of things, and the anti-nausea medication is helping a bit with appetite.  She had no appetite for dinner, but after sending a picture of what was on the menu, I don’t think I’d have any appetite for dinner either.

Half of the staples from her incision came out today – the doctor said they should all come out but Danielle pulled her nurse card and insisted half today, half tomorrow.  Bloodwork today showed that her hemoglobin is staying pretty stable, which is good news in the fight against anemia.

Martha was able to come for another visit today, and she did an excellent job helping the nurses taking Mommy’s vitals and blood pressure.  She enjoyed some more books and snuggles, and showing off her new Paw Patrol backpack.  Seeing her today was a bit of good medicine to her mama’s heart.

Timothy’s first day on the new job went very well today.  He met a lot of new people today and found the workplace to be friendly and welcoming.  He spent the day learning about the organization, meeting people, setting up his office, and getting a handle on the information he will be dealing with.  We are thankful that the day went well and look forward to seeing him settle into his new role.

Today’s devotions came from Proverbs 3:5-6:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him
And He shall direct your paths

We do not know what the Lord’s plans are, and we may never know this side of heaven why He has put these trials before us.  Trust in Him in all circumstances, good and bad -  He will never leave us or forsake us but will direct us in all things.

Prayer requests:
For continued patience in this slow recovery – for continued positive pain management and increase in appetite so Danielle can gain strength

For blessings on Timothy’s work as he settles in there
