June 10 Saturday

Saturday at the hospital was a day of what seems like one step forward, one step back.  Danielle got a decent sleep last night and the morning started out alright - she was able to do a bit of walking in the morning and the early afternoon.  She had a little bit to eat for breakfast and lunch, but no appetite for dinner.  There was some bowel activity today, which is something we have prayed for, but it seems that has aggravated things inside and caused more pain instead of relief.  We are not really sure why this is - the thought of infection crossed our minds but she does not have a fever and the nurses keep a good eye on her.  For the remainder of the day, she was very uncomfortable and has been experiencing a lot of stomach pain.  They were hoping to have Martha in for a little visit to see her Mommy, but decided that it would perhaps be better tomorrow depending on how things go.  Hopefully she can have a restful sleep tonight and things can settle down inside for a day of good strides tomorrow.

They read tonight from Psalm 62:

"Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from Him.
Truly He is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken."
Psalm 62:5-6

The psalmist starts off saying these words in verses 1 and 2, and then questions "how long will you assault me?" He struggles with his troubles, and yet he returns to God as the source of his salvation, his fortress, the One who has unfailing love.  He reminds himself to find his rest in God, and sometimes we need to do that as well in the midst of our troubles and pain - do not lose sight of our Rock, for He surely never loses sight of us.

Prayer requests:
For internal healing and relief from pain, so that Danielle can be strong for the next step of treatment
For calming of anxiety and frustration about a recovery that is taking longer we would like

  1. Thank you for the regular updates. I look for them each day. Although I don't know you personally, I know people who do. We also understand the cancer journey and can't imagine traveling this while being concerned about the life of your precious baby as well. We pray for you as a couple and family regularly. The text you chose at the top of your blog is one that we relied on many times in the past number of years. May that God who carries us, also carry you. May He give you relief from the pain and allow all systems to run smoothly again. May He also strengthen Tim because watching your spouse go through this and feeling so helpless is a very difficult thing to go through. Also praying for Martha who doesn't fully understand. We are thankful for family members and friends who are so supportive. Sending you hugs
